Protect It

Your roof protects everything under it. We safeguard your home from the top down, with a full system rather than shingles alone.

Improve It

A new roof is one of the most visible upgrades you can make, and a top-ROI exterior project when it comes time to sell.

Peace Of Mind

Modern shingles resist wind and impact. Sleep easy through every Rochester storm, on materials built to handle it.

Who you are hiring

The right contractor matters

Choosing a roofer comes down to trust: who actually turns up, who picks up the phone mid-job, and who is still around a year later when you have a question.

JD PM Renovations is built around that. A history of family trade mastery, updated with modern systems and a hands-on approach you can feel during the job.

The JD PM roofing process

Everything we do, in order

From tear-off to a finished, ventilated ridge. No steps skipped, nothing buried, and every layer accounted for.

Crew stripping an old roof down to the deck, debris going into the dumpster
Step one on every job: the old roof comes off completely.
1

Tear-Off & Disposal

Every layer of old shingles and underlayment comes off, right down to the deck, so nothing stays hidden. Debris goes straight into dumpsters and the property is swept when we finish.

2

Plywood / Decking

With the old roof stripped, we inspect the decking for rot, soft spots and water damage, and replace compromised sheets. Decking is itemized, so you pay only for what actually needs it.

3

Underlayment & Flashing

Drip edge, rubberized ice & water shield at the leak-prone eaves and valleys, and synthetic underlayment across the full deck. This is the layer that actually keeps water out.

4

Starter Strip

A purpose-built strip along the eaves and rakes. Its factory adhesive bonds the first row so wind cannot get underneath and peel it back. We use manufacturer starter, never cut-up shingles.

5

Architectural Shingles

Premium dimensional shingles rated for 110-130 mph winds, nailed in the sealant zone with the correct fastener count, every time.

6

Ridge Vent & Ridge Cap

A continuous vent along the peak lets hot, moist attic air escape. Balanced with soffit intake, it prevents the mold, deck rot and premature aging that shorten a roof's life.

7

Drip Edge

Angled metal flashing along eaves and rakes channels runoff into the gutter and protects the fascia and framing from rot. Code-required, and layered with the underlayment correctly.

Common questions

Straight answers

How much does a new roof cost in Rochester?

Anyone who quotes a figure before seeing the roof is guessing. The price depends on the size and pitch of your roof, the condition of the decking underneath, how many layers have to come off, and the material you choose.

That is why the inspection is free and comes first. We measure with EagleView aerial imaging, check the roof by hand, and give you a written, itemized number based on your actual house, with no pressure to accept it.

How long does a roof replacement take?

Most residential roofs are a one to two day job once we start. Steeper pitches, larger homes, multiple tear-off layers or significant decking replacement can add a day.

Do you handle insurance and storm claims?

Yes. We document the damage, provide the measurements and scope your adjuster needs, and stay involved through the claim. As your installing contractor we handle the repair itself.

Are you licensed and insured?

Fully licensed and fully insured, and we are happy to hand you a current certificate of liability insurance before any work begins.

JD pro tip: never let anyone uninsured or underinsured onto your roof. Ask any contractor for proof of insurance. A real one will produce it without hesitating.

What warranty comes with the work?

The standard materials we install come with a manufacturer’s limited lifetime warranty against defects, covering your roof for as long as you own the home under normal residential use. Because we install to the manufacturer’s specifications, that coverage stays valid.
